Teamscene was established in 2006 by Paul Weatherly to develop and enhance football coaching opportunities for children and young people at grass root level by providing in-school, afterschool, weekly and holiday coaching courses within Newcastle upon Tyne whilst helping in the continued development of coaches and teachers by providing practical coaching plans and sessions.
Teamscene's aim is to provide a positive learning environment for children of all ages and abilities, increase the opportunities for young children in football and other sports, and to encourage the health benefits to children participating in sport and exercise and therefore promote active lifestyles for a better and healthier future.
Teamscene also wish to increase the practical resources for coaches and teachers, who have the influence on children at such a young age, to ultimately shape and develop their future. We have already built and forged strong links with local schools to help develop and compliment the PE curriculum and provide qualified and dedicated sports coaching to local children.
Our focus is heavily on FUN ensuring an enjoyable experience is gained in sport during early development whilst providing a safe and child-centered friendly environment for youngsters to successfully develop and flourish.
Since he was 16 years of age Paul has been actively involved with local football clubs, assisting, coaching and developing teams from U7 to U18. Paul completed his BSc degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2000. After graduating Paul coached for a number of sports organisations which led to him gaining valuable experience coaching football in Central America in which he became a director of the British soccer camps during his time there. After declining a full-time position in the US Paul returned to his home town, gained his UEFA B Certificate in Football, and established 'Teamscene' to develop and encourage football for youngsters in the area. Paul also played football for the successful Team Northumbria Team and played an integral part in their promotion to the Northern League until injury cut short his playing career.
Paul together with his team of coaches help over 500 children aged 4-11yrs each week and after initially specialising in football Paul and his Teamscene coaches gained further sports qualifications and are in a position to offer a broader range of sports particularly helpful for a number of schools in the area.
Paul is proud that during his short career he has coached many youngsters but in particular has helped develop numerous players who have been chosen to represent Newcastle United Football Club within their Youth Academy system, a testament to Paul's coaching ability, philosophy and style. As a result in 2009 Paul began coaching for Newcastle United Academy at their base in Longbenton.
